Endless Horizons
Endless Horizons is a parent company and oversees a family of businesses that are diverse in their missions. I assist as the communications intern with Nasaruni Academy, Up With People Jr., Horizons Youth Services, Horizons Leadership and Camp Horizons. My work for them includes event planning, fundraising, social media, graphic design, Web Development, Research, photography and video editing.

Communication Intern
Endless Horizons
Nasaruni Academy for Maasai Girls is a boarding school for grades K-4th, 9km west of Narok Town, Kenya. This rural pastoral area is surrounded by 7,000 families. Poverty prevents families from sending their daughters to school and girls are given away for bride wealth. The Nasaruni Academy seeks to educate girls in the efforts to improve socio-economic status, health and job opportunities for women.
I organized fundraising and outreach efforts through event planning and social media. I have organized several proceeds events at Chipotle, Jalepeno Mexican Restaurant and Bluetique that raised over $500.
I networked with the local media in order to gain attention for upcoming events. As article was written about the Nasaruni Academy and the work I do for them.
I was on the board for The Nasaruni Academy’s annual event, Empty Bowls. Participants receive endless soup, cookies, bread, and listen to speakers from Kenya and JMU present on empowering women through education. The event raised over $5,000.

I reached out to local businesses for donations to our event and was able to get 5 businesses to contribute.

I recruited attendees through networking with organizations and clubs on James Madison University campus.

I assembled the event and created a Facebook contest to gain more followers to our Facebook page.

I created an evaluation document of how to conduct the event next year knowing this years’ shortcomings and successes. I created a spreadsheet for the next intern on how to be strategic for Nasaruni Academy’s growth.
Up With People Jr is a non-profit performance day camp for children ages 8-12. The camp is focused on leadership, equality and cultural awareness, in order to culminate a high energy Up with People style show.
I designed flyers and infographics for distribution to schools across the country. I created social media graphics for upcoming events. I have gained experience in iMovie by editing videos to showcase performances.

Horizons Youth services is an operator of Job Corps centers for the U.S. Department of Labor. Horizons Youth Services provides innovative, quality educational and job training programs to enable young people to succeed in today’s competitive job market and keep pace with the ever-changing dynamics of our worldwide economy. Horizons Youth Services currently operates and/or is a sub-contractor for 7 Job Corps centers and 3 Outreach and Admission offices.

I restructured and edited two of their websites that use Weebly and Wordpress.

I edited quizzes and courses on ProProfs to improve training for students and employees at Job Corps.
horizons Youth Services
Horizons Leadership hosts Fall and Spring SGA Leadership Conferences for JobCorps centers across the country. The Leadership Conference is a four-day program at the Horizons Outdoor Learning Center. The conference consists of leadership workshops, a ropes course challenge, team building activities, and presentation training.
I assisted the conference by doing photography, video editing, and creating social media graphics.
